Nau mai, haere mai – Welcome!
Te Ropu Wahine Maori Toko i te Ora (Maori Women’s Welfare League Inc) was the first national Maori organization to be formed and the first to provide Maori women with a forum in which their concerns could be aired, brought to a wider national audience and placed before the policy-makers of the day. The issues that were prevalent when the league started more than 60 years ago remain today, as does the need for there to be a strong voice for Maori women and their whānau. Te Ropu Wahine Maori Toko i te Ora, provides that voice and the forum for Maori women. We have more than 3000 members nationally (and including a branch in Perth) and a geographical coverage that reaches from one end of the country to the other. Our members are actively and passionately involved, and, making a difference in their kainga to affect positive change for Whanau Maori .
